After a busy couple of months gigging and recording new music you’d think we would take time to relax in June……..WRONG!

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you’d have seen right at the beginning of June we released our fourth single, Web of Lies. It’s been a long time coming when you consider the fact we actually recorded it way back in January of this year. Now that might appear strange as to why we’ve waited so long to release it but there is a good reason as it marks the start of a consistent release cycle of new music that you will get to hear over the coming months.

We marked the release day with a last minute gig at NE Volume Music Bar alongside Electric Circus and Ten Eighty Trees. Aside from seeing some familiar faces there and having a huge amount of laughs (thanks Martin) the gig actually marked a nice little milestone for us. It actually turned out to be exactly one year since we played our very first originals gig and would you believe where that first gig was? You guessed it, NE Volume Music Bar! This was a total coincidence but it was great to reflect on our achievements over the past year given we’d pretty much only just got together before the big C word hit the world. Lee and the whole team at NE Volume have been really supportive of us over the last year which we’re incredibly grateful for and we also had a nice little feature in NE Volume Magazine too!

Having recorded a load of new music recently you’d perhaps think the taps were maybe running dry and we’d be struggling to write more. Well you guessed it again, wrong! We’ve had some ideas floating around for a while and decided to take the opportunity to get into the practice room to hash them out and start putting them together. It had actually been a while since we’d last been in a room together writing due to all of the recording and gigs so it was really nice for us to just get together and get the creative juices flowing. We managed to work on two new tracks, very much in their early stages but they definitely produced some ‘oh my that’s tasty’ moments, so it’s safe to say they are going in the right direction.

Keeping me on the theme of new music we spent a day in the studio again, this time a Chris laying down some guitar for two new bangers. It’d been a few weeks since we’d last been in and heard the drums that Joe had laid down and dammmmnnnn did they sound huge! Although it was a disgustingly hot day, it was really productive and paved the way for Jamie to get in next and do his thing.

As you’ve no doubt been keeping up with our socials you’ll have seen us recently announce our new single ‘Slow Motion (Acoustic)’ which is set to be released on Friday 22nd July. Yes this is the June blog but the relevance is we actually shot the artwork for it ourselves back in June. We bought the cheapest guitar we could find and headed to the beach to burn it after a band practice. Joe got his fancy camera out (and all things health and safety), Chris was in charge of directing/video footage and Jamie had the lighter fuel….the latter arguably not being a great idea but at the same time resulting in us getting ‘the shot’. You can pre-save the song on Spotify here

We rounded the month off by having ourselves a photoshoot with the super talented Joe aka @InkonspicuousUK (Instagram) up in Newcastle. It was our first time working with Joe however not the first time our paths had crossed. Cast your minds back to our release of Slow Motion back in December and the fantastic image we used for the single artwork which was in fact shot by Joe. Obviously we got talking and loved the look of his work and the locations he shoots in so we just had to have a shoot with him. We headed up one evening after work as the sun was setting and got some really nice evening light in the shots. Joe was such a cool dude to work with, really easy going, a great laugh and super efficient. We love the resulting pics and we’re sure it will be the first of more shoots in the future! Keep an eye out on socials to see the results soon. For now here are a few behind the scenes shots.

Stay slippery.
